Sunday Naps - - - for everyone

So after church on sunday afternoons, naps are strongly encouraged in our house. we are normally soft on jake and he can sit by his dad and watch tv for a while, and jake falls asleep. Well today, Dave took Jake into our room to watch tv and take a nap. I came in to maybe watch the movie and talk with Dave, but this is what I found. (so of course i ran and got my camera before i woke up anyone)

I guess dave found the internet boring today (so i know he wasn't reading this blog :) )

Play Date

Jake had his first play date yesterday. Jake's friend Canon from church came over to play (his big sister Ocean came to play with Mattie) Jake and Canon had a lot of fun playing with the cars and trains.

Labor Day Picnic

So yesterday, I decided that we needed to do something fun, and since everything would be too busy this weekend, I took Mattie and Jake to Corona Del Mar for a fun morning. We left around 8 in the morning and went to subway and they got sandwiches to have for lunch. We sent up our blankets and got out our beach toys and they played and played. Then they got to have their lunches and play some more. We left around noon and came home and Jake took his nap, but I think it was a good morning.

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth

While we were having our little labor day picnic at Corona Del Mar, Mattie's bit into her sandwich and lost her remaining front tooth. Here is her current smile (she already has another loose tooth)

Jake

Jake used to sleep in his bed. Last year he got a little sick and he needed/wanted some extra cuddling, so he started to sleep in bed with me and dave, then he went back to his bed, for the past 6 months or so, jake has been sleeping on the floor next to me or dave. he will go and get a pillow and a blanket and just lay down. last night he slept on dave's side which is where zoie sleeps. i thought i should share a picture of it before he gets to big and is back in his bed. (he sleeps in his own bed by himself for his nap, crazy isn't it)

Mattie's Summer Dance Recital

Last night, Mattie's dance studio had a summer review. Mattie did her exam dance for everyone. Here are some pictures:

Can anyone tell that Jake has been to see Ballet lessons, one time too many.

Dave came with us last night to see the show, and as Jake walked over to sit with the ballerina, Dave asked what have i done to his son. :) Jake just wants to be where the pretty girls are :)

Science Museum at Balboa Park

We went to the Science Museum at Balboa Park while we were in Oceanside. Mattie and Jake LOVED it. Everything there was something they could touch and play with.

Oceanside

Here are some random pictures from us playing on the beach in Oceanside this past week. Mattie and Jake really like playing with their cousins Khloe and Jared.

Mattie

Mattie's teeth have been falling out like crazy. It seems as soon as one falls out, another is loose. Here is a picture of her current toothless smile.







She tells me that its okay that she is losing her teeth, she is growing new ones.

Here remaining front tooth is now loose, at this rate the tooth fairy is going broke!

Family Picture Day

Since everyone was down this sunday, my mom wanted to have some family pictures taken. We got there a little early and I practiced with my own models.

Blosa Chica Wetlands

Today, since we can't ride bikes, we went for a nature walk at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands

We saw 3 different snakes, including one rattler, which we did not attempt to take a picture of.

I realize it is August 2nd, and my kiddos are wearing sweaters, but it was early and overcast.

Thursdays

Mattie does Ballet on Thursdays, here she is at ballet.

During the summer, downtown Fullerton has a street fair and they have the fountain on, so this is what Jake does on Thursdays

Please don't tell Mattie :)

Visitors from the North

Joe and Shalyn were down from Seattle this week and we were able to meet for dinner at Knotts Berry Farm.
